Although the tablet market is inversely proportional to the increase in smartphones, Samsung remains optimistic about launching tablets.

This itself is seen with the sale of Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.0 (2017) in Indonesia. In addition to having a wide screen, this tablet can be said to have a design, hardware specifications, and features that can be considered interesting.

Interestingly, a few weeks ago I had the opportunity to try and test the Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2017). For that, for Gadgets who are curious about the advantages, disadvantages, and performance of this tablet, you can see the results of the review below:

When I hold the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 this solid impression radiates in him because it uses metal on his body. Unfortunately, fingerprint prints are easily attached when touching the back.

At first glance, this tablet screen still has a large bezel and hasn't used the language of the latest Samsung product designs. For navigation, Samsung still embeds the physical home button as well as the recent button and capacitive-shaped back.

Turning to the right side there are power and volume buttons arranged side by side vertically. While on the left side there is a SIM card slot with network power up to 4G-LTE which is side by side with microSD.

On the top side, the gadget will find a 3.5mm audio jack port. While when going to the bottom side you will see speaker holes and a USB Type-C port. Meanwhile, on the back there is a main camera accompanied by LED Flash and the Samsung logo.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2017) has been equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 chipset Quad-core 1.4 GHz Quad-core speed with 1.4 GHz speed, 2 GB RAM, and 16 GB internal storage that can be added microSD up to 256 GB.

You could say this combination of hardware specifications is less powerful for a tablet that was born in 2017. Although it can run several applications and games properly, heavy performance cannot be run on this tablet.

Moreover, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.0 (2017) has a wide screen that requires higher performance. To test its performance, I tried running several applications, ranging from SMS, telephone, chat, email, and social media.

After testing a few weeks, I got quite a smooth performance in running applications alternately. But there are still obstacles when running a super and complex application.

Furthermore, I also tried testing the game against this tablet by playing Ashpalt 8: Airborne, Fruit Ninja, and Mobile Legends. You could say in the middle and low quality graphics, this tablet can run Ashpalt 8: Airborne and Mobile Legends smoothly.

Unfortunately when running a game with high graphics makes this tablet overwhelmed and often experience broken. I feel playing Mobile Legends that uses virtual buttons on this tablet doesn't feel good. But when playing Fruit Ninja which requires gesture in play, this tablet is reliable.

Battery Life

This tablet made by Samsung has a battery with a 5000 mAh battery capacity that Samsung claims can last for 14 hours when running videos nonstop, 15 hours when accessing the internet with 4G-LTE network, or 36 hours for phones on 3G networks.

For that, I tried to test the battery life of Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2017) by watching videos continuously, running various applications, and playing games continuously.

When I use it to watch HD video nonstop, I can run it for 8 hours until the condition is 15% critical. While when I run it to play Mobile Legends games nonstop it only lasts for 6 hours until the critical condition is 15%.

But when I run a variety of activities, such as telephone, SMS, 4G-LTE network internet, chatting, social media, occasional games, and watching videos occasionally managed to get an average time of 8 hours 10 minutes for durability. You could say the tablet's battery life is very good because it is supported by a 5000 mAh battery.

Ordinary diverse vendors will override camera matters when it comes to tablet products. But different from the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2017) that is able to produce photos of good quality.

Despite the minimal feature of photo capture mode, Samsung has pinned an 8 MP resolution rear camera with LED Flash that can produce good quality photos. While the front camera with a resolution of 5 MP cannot be underestimated. For that, for Gadgets who are curious about the quality, you can see the results of the photo as follows:

Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2017) has been equipped with an 8-inch screen that has HD resolution (1,280 x 800 pixels) and TFT technology that is able to present sharpness and detail that can be said to spoil the eyes.

This makes the screen of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.0 (2017) not look like a cheap item. Apart from that, I was able to comfortably watch videos and view pictures on this tablet even for a long time.

In addition, the Blue Light Filter feature has also been pinned on this one tablet, allowing the gadget to be protected from blue light radiation when viewing content in it. In addition, I can feel comfortable when reading eBooks on this tablet.

Bixby's Virtual Assistant

We all know that Samsung has developed a virtual assistant named Bixby on the latest smartphones and tablets to rival Siri owned by Apple and Cortana owned by Microsoft.

Bixby can smartly support its user activities, starting from answering questions, creating schedules, even to find matching photos that users have on the Internet.

Kids Mode

This tablet offers a kids mode feature that allows users to provide parental control for their children to use this tablet in accordance with safe and predetermined content.

Later Gadget can choose applications that can be opened by children so as not to open something unwanted. Even Samsung has provided animated videos and educational applications, such as the interactive LEGO game.

Game Launcher

For Gadgets who want to try playing games on the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2017), they can try the Game Launcher feature. Later this feature allows to group the games they have into 1 game folder so that they are younger to access.

In addition, this feature can also allow users to play games with adjustable performance, ranging from the most optimal performance to saving battery. Even the gadget can run the feature to reject calls while the game is running.

Not only that, thanks to the presence of Game Launcher, it also allows Gadgets to easily record game activities so that the results of the game can be shared with friends and other players.

After several weeks of users, you could say I was quite satisfied in using the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.0 (2017) mainly to watch videos, read eBooks, social media, chat, telephone, and text.

In addition, the SIM card support with 4G-LTE network that is present in it makes this tablet able to access the internet itself without the need for Wi-Fi assistance. But I can only run casual games or games with medium to lower quality graphics because the chipsets they have are not strong enough to be invited to think more complicated.

As a middle-class tablet, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.0 (2017) is able to provide battery life that is quite long and produces photos with good results for the tablet segment. At a price of Rp 3 million, you could say this one tablet can still be an option.
