Vivo V9 is a phenomenal smartphone launched by Vivo in Borobudur, Central Java, Indonesia with live broadcast by 12 television stations nationwide at prime time which is usually watched by many people.

This device comes with a full screen that has an aspect ratio of 19: 9 and uses bangs to tell the notch at the top by following current trends. Initially many people talked about Vivo V9 because it only uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 chipset and 4 GB RAM, but is sold at prices reaching Rp. 3,999,000.

With the hardware specifications offered, you could say the price is quite expensive to compete with other smartphones in its class. As if to surprise many people in Indonesia, Vivo has officially launched the latest V9 variant that uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset and 6 GB RAM at a price that is arguably very affordable.

For this reason, for Gadgets who are curious about the differences that are present in the Vivo V9 6GB RAM compared to the standard version, you can see the review that I have made as follows:

Full Design & Full Screen

Similar to the standard version, this Vivo V9 6 GB RAM uses a 6.3-inch full screen with Full HD + resolution (2,280 x 1,080 pixels), IPS technology, and a 19: 9 ratio that meets the front.

If the top has bangs or notch that resembles the iPhone X, it is different from the chin which has a bezel shape similar to the Samsung Galaxy S8. With this combination it makes it different from the design of products made by Apple or Samsung.

At a glance, the bangs at the top of the Vivo V9 itself have a function to store the front camera, sensors, and speaker holes. Turning to the right side there are volume and power buttons arranged vertically, making it easier for me to do a combination of screenshots with just one hand.

While on the left there is a SIM Tray that serves to store the SIM card and microSD. Furthermore, on the back there are two main cameras complete with vertically arranged LED Flash, fingerprint sensor, and Vivo logo.

When I hold this smartphone, the rear body feels using polycarbonate material with paint that gives the impression of glass. But I prefer the V7 rear body that uses polycarbonate material with matte paint that gives the impression of luxury.

In addition, I also feel that the screen and body behind it as if connected like OPPO F5. Unlike the impression when holding the Vivo V7 whose body feels united between the screen and the back.

You could say fingerprints and dust easily stick to the body of the back so that Vivo has provided the V9 with an additional Jelly casing in the sales package. Uniquely, this Jelly casing has a cover on the microUSB port to reduce the dust that sticks or prevents it from getting splashed with water. In addition, there are also earphones built into the box.

Compared to the standard version that uses 24 MP resolution, the front camera on the Vivo V9 6 GB RAM has decreased resolution using the 12 MP front camera with 2 Photodiode (2PD).

Despite the decline, Vivo claims that the 12 MP front camera with 2PD and AI Selfie Dual-Pixel is capable of producing selfies or wefies with better results compared to the standard version.

The front camera is also equipped with AI Bokeh feature which allows users to take neat and nice selfie photos (background blur) thanks to artificial intelligence that decides the results smartly.

Still the same as the standard version, Vivo V9 has embedded two main cameras that have 13 MP + 2 MP resolution with f / 2.2 aperture, Autofocus Phase Detection, and dual-LED Flash. With this combination of two main cameras, I can instantly take bokeh (background blur) photos.

You could say the 13 MP main camera is used to capture the main object, but the 2 MP main camera is used to see the depth of the distance between the object and the background so that it can produce good bokeh photos.

Vivo also embeds the Portrait Bokeh feature for the main camera in the default application, allowing me to adjust the aperture, from f / 0.95 to f / 16 to create the desired bokeh level. You could say I like this feature because it can be set before or after taking photos.

Some of the modes presented in the main camera, consisting of Face Beauty, Take Photos, Videos, AR Stickers, Panorama, Professional, Ultra HD, Doc, Slow Motion, and Time Lapse. You could say the quality of the two main cameras from Vivo is good and sharp. Moreover, the HDR mode it belongs to can produce bright colors. For that, for Gadgets who are curious about the quality, you can see the results of the photo below:

This latest version of Vivo V9 is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 Octa-core speed 2 GHz chipset complete with GPU 512 and Artificial Intelligence Engine to control artificial intelligence.

The 14 nm process technology used by the Snapdragon 660 chipset enables its performance to be powerful, but it is offset by battery consumption which can be considered economical. You could say the chipset's performance is faster than Snapdragon 450.

To accompany the Snapdragon 660 chipset, this Vivo V9 has been equipped with 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage that can be added microSD. The Vivo party claims that this latest smartphone has better capabilities and performance than the standard version.

To test this claim, I have done multitasking tests running applications, watching videos occasionally, texting, chat, telephone, and playing games for a while. The result is Vivo V9 can run multitasking applications smoothly and quickly without any lag at all.

In testing the game, I tried various games ranging from PUBG Mobile, Arena of Valor, Mobile Legends, Dynasty Warrior, Asphalt, Need for Speed   No Limit, Honkai Impact 3, and Free Fire. The result is that Vivo V9 can run all games smoothly without using the highest graphics settings

As usual, I do benchmark testing using AnTuTu benchmark and GeekBench. In the AnTuTu test, I managed to get a test score which reached 143,794 points.

You could say the score is two times higher than the standard version of Vivo V9 which only gets 76,928 points. Meanwhile, this 6 GB Vivo V9 RAM managed to get a score of 1,603 points for single-core testing and 5,837 points in the GeekBench test.

There was also an increase compared to the standard version which only gained 758 points in single-core testing and 3,702 points in multi-core testing. Of course the amazing results considering Vivo V9 6 GB RAM is capable of running heavy games and applications very smoothly.

Battery Life

This latest Vivo V9 still uses a battery with a capacity of 3,260 mAh. To test the durability of this battery, I carry out daily activities, ranging from watching videos, e-mail, creating documents, chat, SMS, telephone, video calls, WhatsApp call, updating social networking status, to playing games.

As a result, this Vivo V9 6GB RAM can last for 9 hours 30 minutes starting from 100% battery condition to a critical point of 15%. You could say the battery resistance is still below with the standard version that can last for 10 hours 20 minutes.

In my opinion this is very reasonable considering that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset embedded in this latest smartphone has a performance that is 2 times faster than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 which is present in the standard version.

You could say the battery life offered by this latest smartphone is very interesting because it can last a long time when I run the daily work routine. But the results will vary depending on the activities Gadgeter often uses for this smartphone.

In addition, I only use one SIM card on the 4G-LTE network in testing this smartphone. Later the battery endurance will be different if the gadget uses two SIM cards at once.

Fingerprint sensor

As a smartphone that is present in 2018, this Vivo V9 6 GB RAM has been equipped with a fingerprint sensor on the back that allows users to unlock smartphones using only fingerprints.

Not only to open the lock, this fingerprint sensor also has a function to lock the application on the smartphone. In addition, Vivo also buried features to take photos using fingerprints.

Face Access

As an alternative to the fingerprint sensor, Vivo has also embed the Face Access feature on the Vivo V9 6 GB RAM which can allow users to unlock just by facing their faces in front of the smartphone.

Vivo itself claims that Face Access is able to detect faces in just 0.1 seconds. This feature can well recognize faces in sufficient light or bright conditions, but in low light or dim conditions it is still rather difficult to recognize faces.

To be able to access Face Access, the screen actually has to be active so that for easy use, the gadget can activate the Raise to Wake feature which allows the screen to be active when the smartphone is swinging facing the face.

Long Screenshot

This one feature allows users to do long screenshots, usually for internet pages and documents. Later V9 6 GB RAM will combine a maximum of 15 pages which are made into 1 long screenshot.

To be able to activate this feature, users can use the Long Screenshot feature or a long screenshot by sweeping the screen from the bottom up and following it, select the S-Capture menu. Later Gadget can choose the Long Screenshot menu to activate this feature.

Smart Split

If the pure Android operating system comes with a dual-split multitasking feature, then the Vivo V9 6GB RAM comes with a feature called Smart Split. With the presence of this feature allows users to be able to run two applications at once in one screen.

For example, users of Vivo V9 6 GB RAM can enjoy YouTube videos while chatting on social networks. Smart Split 3.0 itself supports VLC for Android, MX Player, watching movies & TV, Facebook, LINE, Messaging, WeChat, WhatsApp, YouTube, Video, and streaming video.

Game Mode

For users who often play games and do not want to be disturbed, Game Mode is an interesting feature because it allows users to receive calls without having to exit the game with the presence of Background calls and floating previews Block.

However, if this smartphone user does not want to receive a telephone, then he can use Reject incoming calls so that various calls that are not included in the whitelist list will be rejected or closed automatically by the smartphone.

Clone App

Sometimes smartphone users will have many social networking accounts to communicate with other people. Well, on Vivo V9 6 GB RAM has been equipped with Clone App feature that allows there are two similar applications in one smartphone.

This allows users to use two social networking accounts in one smartphone at a time. This feature only supports several applications, such as WhatsApp, LINE, BBM, Zalp, Viber, and WeChat.

Based on the testing that I did for a week for daily activities, you could say this Vivo V9 6 GB RAM can satisfy me. Especially when used to run games and applications smoothly and quickly.

While the front camera has undergone development compared to the standard version so it can produce better selfies. For the two rear cameras it is still able to produce bokeh photos (background blur) which can be set the blur level before or after shooting.

Still the same as before, I prefer the rear body of the V7 compared to this V9. This is due to the V7 which uses matte colors so that it looks sturdy. With the hardware, camera specifications and attractive features offered, this 6 GB V9 RAM is priced cheap only at Rp. 4,299,000.

If you have not purchased the standard version of Vivo V9, you should choose this latest smartphone because the price offered is only different from Rp. 300 thousand. Just imagine, Gadgets can get hardware specifications and higher performance in 6 GB V9 RAM, but at a low price.
